The Logo
The power of an image is virtual.
We are visual creatures, and everything we see has meaning. Signs and images are vital tools of communication and we all use them constantly. Engedi Refuge has its own unique logo that is packed with meaning. Back in 2017, after Engedi had been incorporated for over 5 years and the residential program had been open and operating for over 4 years, we started doing the hard work of “branding” ourselves. With some professional guidance we engaged the arduous task of creating a logo that says who we are and what we do…without using words. Most of you already instinctively recognize the Engedi logo which is on our website, brochures, business cards and every email we ever send out.
The overall shape is a heart. The heart image is universal in its suggestion of love. There are several kinds of love, but for Engedi, the love we are intent on expressing is the selfless and safe kind of love. A love that is focused on someone else and their needs for acceptance, care, and goodwill. God’s Word puts it so succinctly, “Love is patient and kind…” and “…let us not love with words only, but in action and truth.”
At Engedi, love is both action and attitude for those that need it most.
One half of the heart shape is the profile of a woman. The woman represents the vast majority of sexually exploited people in the world. Her countenance is lifted up by the gentle guidance of a hand from above depicted in the other half of the heart. The guiding hand is ultimately from God, but the expression of that tender encouragement is manifest in the people that serve at Engedi. All of our resources and influences are focused on lifting up those that are discouraged and despairing.
The color scheme is purple and white. Purple depicts human royalty and honor. White depicts divinity and purity of motive. The gentle, uplifting hand is the same color as the woman’s face, signifying the honorable humanity of the servant, and solidarity with the one being served.
These symbols create a very meaningful image that communicates the essence of the ministry of Engedi Refuge. Love, service and honor for victims of sex trafficking.
We hope that you will sense this meaning every time you see our logo, and feel one with our desire and commitment to provide a very tangible expression of love for survivors. Together we are changing lives.
The power of love is real.
