Breaking Ground!
We’re breaking ground on a dream come true! Local contractors are coming together to build a custom designed safe-house for Engedi Refuge which will provide security for sex trafficking survivors for decades to come.
You may not know…that sex trafficking enslaves hundreds of thousands in the United States every year. Women in the U.S. usually get initiated into prostitution in their mid-teens, and suffer extreme psychological control and physical / sexual assaults from their traffickers. Most victims turn to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain of their experiences. Depression, anxiety, self-harm, and post-traumatic stress are common among trafficking survivors, and over 90% are admittedly desperate to get out of it, but lack a safe place to escape and heal. Engedi provides them that place.
Engedi Refuge provides safe housing, and a long-term therapeutic program for women who are escaping sexual exploitation. We offer hope and restoration that will change their lives. In fact, Engedi is a national leader in human trafficking victim care with the highest known success rate in the country. This new home is perfectly designed to meet their needs and keep them safe, far better than a short-term shelter of some kind. In fact, one of Engedi’s resident’s put it this way: “A home is what makes the difference between life and death for a victim of human trafficking.”
You can be a part of providing safety for survivors through this housing project by contributing cash, materials or contract labor.
