The Path is Dangerous

The path of life is usually full of joys and laced with dangers.  There are hills and valleys; rocks, stumps and fallen trees in the way; well-marked areas and places where the path seems to disappear. There are squirrels and birds to enjoy, and there are bears, wolves and cougars to watch out for.  The intersections with other pathways and interactions with other travelers can be incredibly confusing and disorienting.  Often times we completely lose track of where we are going, or even why we are going there, and we may not ever know for sure if we have actually ever arrived.

There is a special comfort in coming across a shelter along the way that is well stocked with supplies and full of experienced, gracious and patient people ready to give you rest, feed you well, minister to your wounds, and replenish your supplies before sending you on your way.

Engedi Refuge is this kind of shelter to women who have been on a painful journey of abuse, rejection and loss in the world of sex trafficking.  We’re a place of safety and plenty; a place of rest and healing; a place of compassion, education and mentoring.  We’re helping weary travelers that have been scared and wounded by wolves and predators along their path; and we’re helping them find their skills, their confidence, and their direction and hope…once again.
